DAVID LACHAPELLE ON THE WORLD STAGE

AN AWARD-WINNING ARTIST

The exhibition will be inaugurated by David LaChapelle himself after being honored with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ ‘Lorenzo il Magnifico’ at the Florence Biennale XIV on October 17, 2023.

This prestigious award, was previously awarded to renowned artists such as Marina Abramovic, David Hockney and Vivienne Westwood, among other notable names.

LaChapelle will then continue his artistic journey with a solo exhibition at Palazzo Vecchio, scheduled for November 26 to December 6, 2023.

HIS INFLUENCE WILL BE MARKED ON FUTURE GENERATIONS

LaChapelle has made his mark on magazines such as Vogue Italia, Vogue Paris, Vanity Fair and Flaunt, capturing iconic figures such as Madonna, Eminem, Andy Warhol and many others. As he diversified his career, he directed music videos and documentary films, collaborating with artists such as Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Lopez.

In 2006, he returned to his passion for fine art photography and his work was exhibited around the world, from London to Mexico, Paris and Taiwan. He has been awarded and recognized in prestigious artistic institutions.

LaChapelle continues to be an influential figure in the art world, exploring themes ranging from pop culture to immortality. Always aware of the social implications, his work transcends the material and makes him one of the most prominent artists in both celebrity photography and contemporary art.

A LEGACY OF ART AND COLLABORATION

David LaChapelle has left an indelible mark in Mexico, always in association with 212 Productions, the organizers who have accompanied him since his first visit in 2003 with FLAUNT magazine.

A powerful vision of the time

Initially, it was located in the Casa del Lago, supporting young local photographers. Then, in 2009, his first majestic exhibition at the Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso became an artistic revelation, attracting more than 150,000 visitors and sponsored by an artistic collaboration with the Dos Equis brand and FLAUNT. This exhibition was later moved by the organizers to the Museo de las Artes en Guadalajara, further consolidating its impact in the country.

In 2016, he participated in Canon’s “Zoom In” event, demonstrating his commitment to the Mexican public. In 2017, in collaboration with the Jalisco government, the organizers presented at the Hospicio Cabañas the exhibition “Lost+Found”, which inaugurated its latest photographic series at the time worldwide, captivating viewers.
