DAVID LACHAPELLE: AMOR
David LaChapelle: AMOR, a large-scale retrospective of one of the world’s most influential artists, on view at the Palacio de Minería.
AMOR spans four decades of LaChapelle’s career and offers a comprehensive overview of his artistic evolution and impact on contemporary culture. Featuring previously unseen works and iconic highlights from the artist’s career, the exhibition includes over 90 works, created across a variety of media.
Highlights of the exhibition include Via Crucis (2023), a new series that breathes new life into an ancient spiritual tradition. In Spree (2019-2020), inspired by accounts of Shakelton’s Trans-Antarctic Expedition, a colossal mega-cruise ship is frozen in time.
Also noteworthy are new works based on Georgia O’Keeffe’s Hawaiian paintings, as well as a special gallery dedicated to LaChapelle’s early archives.
The Exhibition has been organized by 212 PRODUCTIONS® in collaboration with Palacio de Minería de la Facultad de Ingeniería, UNAM.

PUBLIC LECTURE
UNIVERSIDAD DE LA COMUNICACIÓN
David LaChapelle is known internationally for his exceptional talent in combining a unique hyper-realistic aesthetic with profound social messages.
LaChapelle’s photography career began in the 1980’s when he began showing his artwork in New York City galleries. His work caught the eye of Andy Warhol, who offered him his first job as a photographer at Interview Magazine. His photographs of celebrities in Interview garnered positive attention, and before long he was shooting for a variety of top editorial publications and creating some of the most memorable advertising campaigns of his generation.
As part of the activities, there will be a free public lecture where the artist will discuss the importance of art in the world, and will speak live with students and the artistic community through a conference to be held at the University of Communication, Mexico City, México.
